Alvin Paul Pelkey, "Tuffy", 67, of Hillcrest Ave., Lake Placid, NY passed away Saturday, October 19, 2024 at his home. He was born January 19, 1957 in Lake Placid the son of Alvin and Shirley (Porter) Pelkey. Tuffy loved to fish and was an avid buffalo bills fan, He worked at various horse ranches, training racing horses and jumpers he worked at Mt. Van Hoevenberg at the U. S. Luge Track during the 1980 Winter Olympics. Following the Olympics, Al moved and resided in Florida where he enjoyed watching his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up. Tuffy moved back home to Lake Placid in 2020 and enjoyed spending time with his many good friends and fishing with them in Lake Placid Lake. He was predeceased by his parents, Alvin and Shirley; four brothers, Shane, Corky, Gary, and Mike. Alvin is survived by his wife Cathy; two daughters, Monica Garcia and her husband Arturo and their five children, Arturo Garcia Jr., Alicia Garcia, Ciara Garcia, and Damion Garcia; and one great-granddaughter Nalani Rose Garcia and Melissa and her 3 children. Al is also survived by his brother, Rick Pelkey his wife Rebecca; two sisters, Debbie Baillargeon and her husband Bernie and Colleen Gubitosi and her husband Jerry along with many nieces, nephews, and many friends who he loved dearly. A Graveside Service will be held November 9th at 10:00 AM at North Elba Cemetery. Rev. Derek H. Hansen Pastor of the Adirondack Community Church will officiate. The M. B. Clark, Inc., Funeral Home in Lake Placid is in charge of arrangements.
